Our Campaign Pillars

Do you know what the CCPSA is? No? How about what District Councilors do, or what changes to public safety policy have been implemented?
If your answer is “no”, and statistics say that’s 90% of residents, then you are part of my key reason for running.
The Council must over-emphasize its accomplishments, give clear expectations to work in progress, champion future work aligned to local priorities, and actively involve for greater numbers across our people-dense neighborhoods.
It must also challenge itself to not rest on its laurels locally, but proactively share what works city-wide across all Districts.
For the past 2 years, the current ‘slate of thee’ elected Council has put “improve community relations” as a top annual goal for the District.
Each year, the buck was passed to the next without any explanation of what was attempted, what didn’t work, and what new strategies to try.
I know what our communities looks like, where they gather, and how to meet them where they to build stronger community policing together.
District Councils, including the 20th, struggle with keeping clear and consistent public records of attendance, meeting discussions, and essential information.
We as a community are also owed far more consistent, digestible, non-biased reporting on current Commission goals. I don’t have time to read through a 70 page PDF; do you?
District leaders must challenge each other to perform at higher standards, not just be a merry three band of musketeers that rest at “good-enough”.

The quality of our police work matters.

I’m committed to respectfully and persistently holding police accountable, while simultaneously building bridges throughout our community. Here’s where I would start:

Transparency and proper allocation of public safety funds (our tax dollars!)
De-escalation, proactive policing, and support in the wake of tragedy
Community courts, court advocacy, and rigorous local watch connections
Traffic safety across all mobility modes (& enforcement!)

I’m a real guy raising a family in Edgewater. Every business I am a patron of is within 3 miles of where I live.

My loved ones describe me as genuine, empathetic, and deeply dedicated to my work.

I grew up in Michigan, but I chose Chicago.

As part of caring for my home, I always do what I can to keep our community both safe and thriving through Rapid Response, block patrol, beat meetings, and traffic safety drills.
